Default Newbie Notes #1 – Stinger II Start-up Plan

Through their posts, CAMhead pros have taught me a lot and I appreciate how responsive they are to trouble-shoot owners' problems and answer everyone’s questions. Their actions have inspired me to want to contribute something. Since my Stinger II was just delivered 3 weeks ago, I thought I would try a handful of posts from a "newbie" standpoint - aimed at those eagerly anticipating or just setting-up their machines. Worst case: newbies will have more things to read. Best case: someone will take away something helpful.

#1 - Stinger II Start-up Plan: Some people rarely read instructions, think through processes, or take time to document and everything works out fine. I'm not one of those people. Attached below is the simple one-page checklist procedure that I actually followed pretty closely to make sure I didn't mess things up or do things twice. Different machines & options would demand different steps, but for anyone inclined to make a plan, I offer mine as a sample to compare.

Tom,
Some other items you might want to add to your list.

On the CNC computer:
- Disable Windows auto update , at lease the install section (download only is ok)
- Disable screen saver

I appreciate your additions! My machine isn't internet connected, but Update still might interrupt me someday - I'll check it out. And the screen saver hasn't popped-up, but again, it might. I'll make sure it's off. Thanks, again!

What about chucking up a new bit and break it jogging it across the table

Larry - I didn't dare even thinking about that step for fear it would come to pass .

Kind of like the pothole in the road . . . If I look at as I'm driving, I will certainly hit it with dead-on accuracy.

HI Tom,
Just received my machine yesterday and have been reading all the newbie notes. As they incorporate a very nice checklist, I wonder if you have any changes or adds to the notes since you have more experience now?

Thanks in advance,
Aubrey
