Default Odd sizes of plywood?

How about plywood in 5x10 sheets? And what type of exterior Ply do y'all use for exterior stuff? That would be a nice material that would hold down well on a vacuum table? I've found a supplier in NJ that would ship me $10000 worth of Russian Baltic Birch b/bb at an ok price buuuut, that's a pretty steep order for me right now. I'm cutting 1/2 Fir from Menards right now and have some 5 x 10 Sheets of 3/4 coming in from there too. I know MDO comes in 4x10 sheets that i can get locally but I can get more production from 5x10. Any Ideas? I'm in the STL area if that helps.

From my 20+ years of using a vacuum table, there is no plywood that's vacuum friendly. And the longer you have it, the worse it gets.

I've gotten large sized sheets in the past from Inland Plywood, but you may have to buy a lot to get it.

Well.....going to reveal my "stupid" here but I have never used vacuum and am about to order one next week. Why is plywood not vacuum friendly? I am asking simply to garner all the info I can get.

Plywood is vac friendly if you buy it flat or with a little cup is even better just no s bends, that said if you buy cheap stuff you need to cut before it cups real bad.

Ok. That makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Most plywood will start warping immediately, regardless of how flat it is when you buy it.

Plywood is rarely flat. If you can put the concave face down, it can help, but that's not always an option.

Even when it is flat, it doesn't hold as good as something like melamine.

Default all that seems true

So far I cut some ACX with the a side down but only two of the four sheets would stick, and the AB fir 4x8 did ok, even with the b side down. I really need to find a good ULDF though and I think I wont have to worry so much. I think I won't....

Have you tested your system to see how it is performing?

There is a simple test: http://www.camheads.org/showthread.php?t=8558

Depending on what your making. Look to see about using extria. It is an exterior mdf basically. I did a set of boat dock cabinets with it. Assembled with stainless screws. After four years it still is doing well. I know it is available in different sizes and thicknesses. Just not sure about 5x10.
