Default Installed ...

Here's a neat way to make a relatively small sign look larger..... put a back-panel behind it. This was my reference piece from the last ( & upcoming) workshop & at only about 28" square, it could have been lost, especially since it replaces a sign that was 5' wide. The addition of full 5" wide posts adds to the overall impact. Total width now is 42".
It's mounted on Panelclips, so I can easily pull it off whenever I need it .

What treatment did you recommend to the customer to keep the appearance fresh and bright?

Rodger, the sun angle with shadows is perfect to make the reigns have dimension. I had to take mine out just to verify shadow effect.

Looks very nice framed out.

Great lesson in bringing the most value for your customers. It is sooo important how to "dress up" a sign. Posts, trim, landscaping...it all matters.

Folks in Florida have a hard time realizing that....but were working on them. :)

What are your posts made of? How do you finish them?

Thanks, everyone.
Art, generally the rain will keep it washed off, but on occasion, they should give it a shot with the garden hose because it is beside a gravel road, albeit one with very little traffic .... There's nothing on here that won't last 10 years.
Doug, my posts are band-sawn Eastern white cedar. You could use cypress, I suppose, although cypress in the ground doesn't perform as well as cedar. The "band-sawn" texture is an advantage ..... any waterbased stain will stick to that like snot to a baby blanket.
The backing boards the sign is mounted too are band-sawn cedar as well.

Splendid indeed!

Installing the sign on the panels like that draws more focus to the sign.

I like! I like!
