Default Strange issue needs some profesional advice

I am in the final throws of setting up my "new to me" Cobra. This weekend I completed all the electrical and plumbing required to bring this baby to life.
I power up the Cobra and checked rotation and such and all is good but there was a noise I was not comfortable with.
When I tram the gantry all the way to the tool change area and the gantry stopped , the Y axis stepper started squealing pretty loud. I move the gantry back away from the tools and it lessened. I got down and touched the stepper to see if it was hot or anything and every time you touch the stepper, it squeals.
I made a video of the this so lets see if it works on the forum.
Sorry if this link does not work-forum won't let me load a movie file.

That noise is "servo hunt" That seems a bit louder than normal, but its hard to tell if that is really louder than normal from a video.

Here's what to do:
Clean & lube all bearings, rails and the ballscrew
Make sure all belts are tight
Make sure trans slide plates move freely, or:
Adjust rack to pinion.
Pinions may need replacement

All axes should be manually moved thruout their full range of motion to check for binds

Oh Great, just what I need ...more lingo to learn..LOL

"Hunting
During a standstill, the output shaft of the servo motor may vibrate slightly. This phenomenon is called hunting."

https://www.orientalmotor.com/servo-...-glossary.html

I'll pass this along to the NRA...

Thanks for the info Gary.

Default Thanks again Gary.

Gary,
As usual, you are a wealth of knowledge.
I will get started on these service items. I greased it and moved it around a good bit today to loosen it up from its sitting for 6 months. I did not hear the noise more than yesterday so I will keep an ear out. It may have something to do with a loud gearbox-may need some factory work on that one.
Previous owner said he had the one side rebuilt when it made this noise.

I got everything running finally-needed a 100 amp breaker to startup the 20hp Becker. All looks good to start the learning curve.
