Default Help! Y servos tripping all the time

I keep having problems with my y servos tripping. I have greased the bearings and don't think it is because of friction or cutting force. They trip when the y is not even moving, they trip while only the x is cutting and even while sitting still and I am changing sheets out, I will come back to start a new file and they will have tripped, they trip while going to park and initializing. It seems to happen more frequently as the day goes on. In the morning I can cut a few sheets fine then it starts to happen, then it starts to happen faster and faster after re initializing. The other day it was always y2 tripping, today it was y1 giving me problems. Any ideas? I don't think it is mechanical, seems like electrical or computer to me.

Default Did you get this resolved?

I was running pretty good yesterday and had the same issue start happening.
I had to resurface my plenum and it took 5 full passes of the Spoilboard Wizard to get it trued. On the fourth pass, it just stopped and said Y servo failure. I was able to raise the spindle and restart the program. The next pass it did it again and same result, raise zero and restart. I then replaced the spoilboard and did a skim cut on it. It stopped on the board and I could do nothing. It was sitting on the board at 12,000 rpm and the keyboard would not talk to the pc, and the mouse did not respond. I could hit the space bar and the screen would say PAUSED but it was still running full speed.
I finally hit the EMO and lifted the head manually and got it off the board.
Dont have a clue what happened but here are a few facts.
1.The control computer did flash off on the screen, like it went into screensaver mode.
2. It was very hot in the shop, around 100 degrees.
3.several commands don't seem to be working like Z0 after the spoilboard Willard. I have to manually run the Z back down and watch the readout to get it located to the spoilboard.
4. I just did a full grease job on the unit and cleaned all rails and ways.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When was the last time you blew out your computer and cable ends? We have had this happen to a much lesser extent from time to time and we seem to resolve the issue by taking the serial cables off, blowing out the ends as well as the ports, and reconnecting.

Default Y servos tripping

I will give that a try. I need to order some longer cables because the length now makes the control cabinet sit right where you load and unload goods. Ned it to be by the wall.
When I change out the cables, I will do a deep clean on everything and hope for the best.
Thanks for the help.

Doug

Keep us posted I am having an issue with the Y servo tripping also on my cobra 508 ATC, mine is a single drive Y machine though.

May want to consider contacting Michael at tech support. He may need to look thru your WinCNC.ini file like he wound up doing for ours. Sometimes s little tweaking goes a long ways
