Gary, I cant wait to see what you come up with for this tedious but much needed task.

I went and read the HiWin docs you referred to and I have a question . I cant seem to wrap my mind around the recommendation to use a hot rod to poke a hole in the bearing to add a fitting. Why not a drill bit? Not enough access room?
The hot poker just seems so....I dont know...crude?? Less precise???
Im sure there is a good reason and you can set me straight.

Just an assumption but drilling creates chips. Bearings & chips don’t play well together.

You make an excellent Bruce. But wouldnt you have a similar issue when you tap the hole made with the poker?

My take on it was to drill and tap with a bottoming tap, blow out the chips. Then the hot poker for the last bit, so no chips in grease.

My take too. I should've elaborated a bit more. Not enough caffeine in the brain at the time.

OK...now that makes much more sense! Thanks, Ed. Guess my gray matter just didn't put two and two together....well, it did but it came up with five!
