Default Stacked Text problem

Recent upgrade to V-Carve Pro 9.509 64 Bit

I'm trying to create a stacked text template and when I click on weld it doesn’t remove the overlaps. This is after I have converted to curves and shift/right click to deselect the inner islands. When I click on weld, nothing happens and the overlaps remain.

I've rerun it several times. What am I doing wrong?

If all else fails can I use node editing mode and interactive trim to remove the overlaps?

Thanks
Ron

Any chance the vectors are grouped? Can you post the file? How many are selected for the operation?

This is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7jemFBP1RA I used the node editing tool and interactive trim to take them out in that file. If needed I'll go back and change that back later, but have an appointment I need to get to shortly.

Convert the last name to Curves and it should work. Also make sure you are selecting only one of the 2 copies of the first names

Relative to Gary's comments about selecting only one of the stacked copies, "layers are your friend"... :)

X2

Welding will fail or give less than desirable results if they are not converted to curves, are grouped or there are too many inside/outside vector combinations for it to figure out.

Copy all inside 'islands' of letters before you weld and paste them back in after the weld or you'll lose them.
