Default Witness mark MDF doors

I am making some mdf doors for the first time. I am getting a small witness mark on the edge where the bit enters the material. Is this a programming issue or a hardware issue. Would plunge rate or ramps have anything to do with this. I don't know if I can control the ramping in Mozaik. Any ideas?

I had the same issue when cutting MDF. It seemed to be worse when the bit has a few hours behind its name. I extended the ramp (was ramping 20mm through the 16mm MDF). I extended the ramp to 40mm, and the problem was solved. My logic says that a slower plunge rate should also sort the problem out. As to how to do it in Mosaic, sorry, can't help there. I work with Aspire and EnRoute. But I can't see the you couldn't set it in Mosaic.

Hope you come right.

You can set the ramping in Mozaik. If my rental did not just expire I would look where I set it. But, I know you can adjust it.

Here is how you'll control the ramping in Mozaik

- In the Optimizer, go through the process of optimizing your job, then you can go to each sheet and click on the button to the right to "generate G-dode"
- Then generate G code window will come up...
- click calculate
- then to the right, click edit
- the next window to open will give you all the options for ramp in distance, linear or zigzag, conventional, climb arc corners, onion skin etc etc

Let me know if you have issues I'll do screen shots.

Which MDF bits are you using?

There's a little simpler way to do it.

In optimizer click libraries then click tooling.

Click on the tool your are using .

Near bottom right where you select what type of operations this too is valid for there is an extra button
For options... set the ramp distance here.

Note if you go to this menu through the regular screen and not the optimizer menu you will not see these options.

Hopefully that helps.

Thanks guys that helps, I didn't see the options in the regular tooling library. I am using the vortex insert bits, they are cutting nicely.
