Default Outdoor poly furniture

I'm shocked at the price of outdoor poly furniture. Has anyone purchased stock and made your own? If so, where do you purchase the stock? And what bits are good for machining?

I read an article about this kind of thing a few years ago. At that time, there was a plastics supplier in the Plymouth Meeting PA area that had the appropriate kind of material available for creating outdoor furniture...it has to be "stiffer" than the stuff typically used for decks. I don't recall the name of the supplier or where the article appeared, however.

Playboard is one product among many others. It is UV stable and comes in several colors.
Doing a search for similar products will show other colors, textures, and smooth. Most of them are HDPE.

Hold onto your wallet.

You can get special batches (min poundage) with UV additive to PVC (playground board) or HDPE. Its expensive but it does come in 4x8 sheets. I have a customer that I make exterior trim pcs for from 3/4" PVC board but then he paints it with exterior paint to keep costs down and availability up. I tried to run some the PVC through another customers shaper and didn't turn out the best but with straight cuts it works out fine especially if you are going to paint it.
