Default Wiring up my machine today! Few quick Q's.

505 Cobra w/ ATC is finally in my new shop, ready to go.

My electrician wasn't sure if he wired it correctly. I know with 3 phase equipment, the motor direction can be reversed by switching the order of L1 , L2 , L3.. Is this a concern when wiring up my Cobra?

Second Q- I am going to cut a vacuum grid into the phenolic top. Can a 2 flute 1/4" compression bit handle this? What are some ballpark feedrates / RPMs? I've never machined phenolic.

Last Q - What is the recommended way to attach vacuum plumbing to a phenolic top? I need a tight seal.. using a venturi style vac system

Ben...
No concerns for the electrician, if there is a "hot" leg, put it on "L2"

Once up and running, verify spindle rotation. IF its turning the wrong way, swap the wires on the output (motor) side of the VFD. Swap the center for either one of the sides.

I have not tried it, but very few 1/4" bits will last for more than a minute or two when cutting phenolic. Some of the best I've found are straight (brazed) bits from Southeast Tool in 3/8 and 1/2 diameter. 12-15K rpm and adjust feedrates from 100ipm & up. Types of phenolic vary, so I cant get closer. Some cut well at 100ipm, some 300.

If I wanted a tight seal I would tap NPT threads in from the bottom, then you can use Teflon to seal

The 3/8 bits Gary mentioned cut an entire grid into a Panther 508 at my last job. If still needed; email me at whytewoodworking@gmail.com and I can get you exact speeds by monday.
