Default Mdf

Has anyone ever cut through .5" MDF with a 1/8" EM in one pass? Wanting to cut down on cut time but would prefer to not ruin a bit to explore this.

ALSO

Where can I purchase 1/8" upcut EMs with a cutting length longer than .5"? I currently am using a downcut EM and it burns extremely bad in MDF. Any advice for cutting small details through (not in) MDF is appreciated. Speeds/Feeds?

MDF has a low flash point and it tends to turn to dust instead of chips . But I would call Joey at US router tools . He has been my go to guy for the last three years

Amana makes an 1/8" em that uses an 1/8" collet or adapter. I buy all my bits from " toolstoday " .com

I would say that trying to cut .5 MDF in one pass is a lot to aggressive for a .125 bit. Even on our Biesse we do multiple passes for .75 with a .25 bit.

How nice do the edged a need to be?
We cut it in two pass, one climb at 2 ips 16000 rpm and leave a .05 skin, pass two is con .010 into the spoiler. We also cut plywood and Baltic plywood the same way so one pass for mdf should be fine, just try it.
We use .125" 2flute spirl down cut bits that have a cut length of .5" any long and we snap them off.

Default 1/2" mdf

We cut 1/2" MDF here for our demo file when a customer comes to visit the shop. This file is cut with a .125" end mill at 200 in/min in a single pass. Many times I will cut this with an o-flute or a 2 flute downcut.
