Default Manually G Code Programing

I would like to run some simple programs by manually writing my own G code. I have been writing G code for many years. Problems is I can not figure out how to import a G code program into Wincnc. If I open existing programs in Wincnc the are a .TAP extension. They are also displayed in Notepad 2. I need to figure out how to write programs that fit this criteria so I can import them into Wincnc. I am sure this classifies as a stupid question but I need help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

The files are just simple text files with a .TAP extension. You can create them as .TAP directly or after saving them as .TXT, rename with the .TAP extension.

So I just manually change the extension and that is all. I knew it was a stupid question.

Yeah, very easy, create a new text file in notepad (or wordpad), type your code, save it. Then navigate to the file in windows explorer, and rename it to *.TAP... Then open in WINCNC... Done...

In Notepad, when you save the file, you may need to put the file name in quotes, or it may add a .txt extension to the end.

"filename.tap"

If you just use:

filename.tap

you may get

filename.tap.txt
