So what machine is everyone ? I’m looking to invest into a edge bander and kind of lost on how many options. I have been using the MAKSIWA portable edge bander. It works but it’s a very slow process compared the automatic ones.

We have a hot air edgebander (not sure of the name at this time) that works fine with preglued wood tape, has a couple of trimmers so minimal work after it's taped...
We also have the MAKSIWA... works great with the PVC tape, which the hot air doesn't... it is slow and since it doesn't have the trimmers, more work is needed.. but the tape sticks great. Depending on how much you tape would determine what type of machine would do you best. We use ours regularly but not enough to warrant spending a considerable sum to get up to the big boy level. Maksiwa also makes the separate trimmer, which we don't have but our neighbor cabinetshop does and it works well.

Asa Cabinetmaker going from hot air bander to a Brandt kd 53 in 2000 was one of the best jumps i ever made. just like a cnc you want the most you can.
That bander is in my shop still as a 3mm back up. I do have a full size 7 station King ISO with self return feerer now but that little bander treated us well for many years There are a lot of small automatic glue pot banders for 8 grand and up and the tech has come a long way Go Glue pot, the range of materials you can use is massive when compared to a preglue Air bander
