My t-tracks were barely below the blackboard when I received my Stinger so I elected not to surface it. I screwed my spoil board down instead. In my mind it makes no difference how wavy the blackboard is as long as the top of the attached spoil board is machined copacetic with X, Y & Z.

I recently replaced my spoilboard and also added some more t-tracks for more clamping options. I also cut pockets at the far end of the backboard that allows me to add additional clamps from that end if needed. (a worthwhile modification if your t-tracks are in the Y axis, like mine.)

As Jim points out, there’s not much meat below the t-tracks. Note in the first pic how the spoilboard edges overlap the t-tracks. This prevents the t-track from being accidentally pulled out.

I tried flattening the plenum right after I got the machine back in November.
