For what its worth, I really dont think a drain "assembly" is needed. Just the pvc pipe up through the bed and a drain cover over top of that. I struggled for a day trying to figure out how I was going to get a drain assembly under the bed of my Stinger SR24 (the answer was...I wasn't!) Then the ole light bulb went off and I returned both drain assemblies to the Borg. Of course, you guys with bigger machines and more room under the table dont have that issue. But I still dont see what the drain assemble accomplishes??? See the pics of my table...

Joe, the "drain" assemblies are more or less just an easy way to handle the need since you screw them together. But I believe you are correct that they are not "required" and it makes sense to be creative when clearance isn't there.

Yup, I thought it would be easier then trying to find all the holes to line them up. I just slathered on the glue and away I went. Killed 2 birds with one stone by sealing the bottom of the 1 inch mdf with the glue I used to glue it down with.
