Default Cobra Elite questions

I was asked to post some of my Cobra Elite questions here (makes sense). Here's a recap of questions I've already asked, but I'll leave out any pricing details (I'll let Camaster add them if appropriate):

1. Is the tool holder an ISO30 and what combination of collets come with the 10 tools holder ATC?
That is correct and they are IS30 (1/4,3/8 and 1/2 is what it comes with, you can purchase any others you may need at usroutertools.com).

2. Z clearance and travel, what is it? Are there options?
10 Inches standard. We can go up to 20 inches (this adds cost and build time).

3. ATC. If the CR 408 comes with 10 tool changers, what is involved in adding 4 or 5 more later on? Can this be done without a tech coming out and installing it?
The linear tool rack can hold upto 12 tools. If you need more than 12 tools you would need a rotary carousel which can accommodate upto 10 additional tools.

4. Can the top be ordered with a combo vac and t-track system?
We only offer one or the other not both.

5. Does the system come with a counterbalance on the Z?
Yes

6. Does the system come with a tool touch? What about when upgraded to an ATC?
Yes on both ATC and none ATC .

7. Does the system come with a Gcode operated vac relief valve?
yes. There is a button on the screen and it is G code operated. Blast gates are on all vacuum tables on Cobras.

8. Does the system come with a Gcode operated spindle speed?
Yes our spindle is both g code operated and it has spindle speed control on the monitor.

9. Is a bluetooth pendant available?
There is a wireless pendent available

10. Does the system come with a laser sight?
Laser sight is an add on option.

11. Can the spindle be upgraded from a ISO30 to an HSK63 tool change system?
Only the 13 HP has this option.

12. Can you verify the cutting area on the Cobra Elite CR-408? The website and quote states it as having a cutting area of 61” x 97”. A poster indicated the the CR-408 has a 4’ x 8’ cut area.
Yes 61" X 97" is correct cutting area.

13. Also, can you tell me about the lubrication on the Cobra Elite? Is it still individual Zerk fittings? Are there still fittings that cannot be reached with a grease gun and must be greased with the needle adapter?
Yes it does. The Cobra Elite comes with grease fittings (grease zerks) on all bearings and ballscrew. This gives the operator access to every grease point with just a grease gun. This makes lubrication and maintenance of your machine much faster and much simpler. We sell a maintenance kit that has all this included.

14. Also, what size is the DC port for the dust boot? How does the auto adjusting feature work?
6 inches. The dust boot moves up and down with pressurized air controlled by your controller.

15. it looks like there is a sheet metal shroud covering the y-axis motor and gearbox. Does that shroud need to be removed to grease those bearings? What’s involved if it does need to be removed?
No, you do not need to remove the covers to grease the bearings on the Y. You have free access to the bearings. Our motor covers are easily removed with a few screws if you need to for any reason.

16. Are the servos AC or DC for each of the axis?
AC Servos Motors with 10:1 planetary gearboxes.

New questions:

17. Tool touch. Where is the tool touch located on the ATC machine, back with the tool holders or up front by the operator?

The tool measure pad is located in the back with the tool holders for quick tool measurements.

18. DC port. Can you verify the 6" port size?

Yes, it is 6 inches

19. How many and how are the vac zones set up on the CR-408?

There are 5 zones. They are setup for a 2x4, 4x4, 5x5, 4x8 and 5x8. A 5x10 machine has 6 Zones..

This will be a very useful thread for those thinking about getting the Cobra Elite. #15 is actually two questions and only the 2nd one is answered. Do the shrouds have to be removed to get to the grease zerks?

#15 has been updated. You do not need to remove the covers
