Default programming help - stool seat

good evening. i purchased a 4x4 stinger ii at the end of the year. we're learning what we can as time allows, but i have a project i'd like to start before we'll be able to program it ourselves (we've been working on it already but haven't gotten far). i can communicate the specifics directly to those interested, but i'm looking for someone to generate a file for a carved stool seat. i don't think it would be possible to get it all correct on the first iteration, so multiple reworks should be assumed. also assumed - i'm planning on paying whoever agrees to take on this assignment.

please message me here and i'll send over the specs.

What program are you using? Maybe post the specifics here and we can work through this together, so others can see the process. I do design and make a lot of furniture.

we're a little better at sketchup so we've been designing in that and importing it to v-carve. i think aspire is the "right" program for this design, but not something we plan on purchasing. right now, i don't anticipate us doing many carvings with our machine.

we're still getting a lot of segment lines this way, but we've cut some versions and my butt tells me we aren't that close. it has taken us a lot of time to get the programming right to produce something that doesn't feel very good to sit in.

the link is to the inspiration stool seat. there are no dimensions given, but i can educated-guess at most of them. our version should be similar to this. we just don't have the programming skills right now and are operating on a timeline that won't allow us to learn them ourselves.

Have you tried the fluting in vcarve? It looks like most of what is there could be accomplished easier than 3d modeling.

Honestly i am unsure you will ever carve a perfect butt seat to fit all. there maybe some standards in the AIA book and I will look but onece a file is made it could be changed as needed, I kinda get why and what you are doing "butt" (Pun intended) It was never very profitable for me.

I once had a guy come in here and wanted me to 3d actual dog faces of deceased dogs make an urn and make ech one custom

O and keep the price to him at 35.00.... It took anoher 1/2 hour to get him out of the office and then we all busted out laughing

Russ,

Sometime back I think you posted something similar here or on the Vectric website.

Here is a sample seat, 17" x 17". Its similar to a design I've used in other chairs, so it should be comfortable. Not exactly like the stool seat you showed, but I think the roundover at the front of the stool makes it more comfortable to sit on.

EDIT: I haven't modelled the underside of the seat yet, but that roundover is easy to model. Just wanted to make sure the top of the seat was what you were looking for.

I can't seem to upload the file, it says I'm missing a security token. Never had that error before. . .
