Dan,
It would help if you could post the file or some pictures..
This could created from several factors.
1. you may have chosen the incorrect axis to view the model ( Wrap values around "X" or "Y" axis ).
2. you have no "material" for the model to sit on.
Here is my approach.
I always start out making a component the size of the project , with just some thickness,
If my material thickness is 2" in my job setup, this starting component would be around .5" thick.
When wrapped it would give you a base of 1" thick... this would be the thinnest I would want the item to be...Adding to that base will show you a more accurate rendition.
As for the videos, I agree with Gary, and for the classes...I'm for it..
