Default Needing technical advice.

I have a Stinger II. My Table is 48X48. I need to cut a shape that is 40x92.
I am wondering if I cut the shape in half lengths and set a start position the same on two files if I can slide my board to the top of my router and continue cutting the second half. Not sure this makes sense??
Thanks Kathy

I believe what you are asking for is called tiling in the Vectric software. There is a video tutorial on tiling on their site that explains it very well.

Kathy I do a fair bit of tiling and have the following recommendations:

1. adjust your design or setup the tiling so you do not have to start and stop in the middle of lettering - it is easier to overlap most 3d scenes/models than lettering unless you align the wood perfectly - the least bit off show from a great distance with lettering. if you are off a few thousands on a 3d model a bit of sanding to blend the scene is often unnoticeable...lettering not so much

2. Set up a rail of sorts that will form a reference edge in the y axis to move you work piece along to maintain alignment. I use 8' aluminum guide that is really made to guide a circular saw when cutting plywood sheets - a strip of 3"-5" wide plywood would also serve - I am sure you get the idea. This also becomes a convenient way to establish reference points to index the job along the y-axis. I assume you have a laser based upon you system profile...that can also be used to determine distance moved or distance required to move.

3. Tiling requires the reference point to be left, bottom. if you use clamps this may require some strategy to design a tool path that won't interfere.

4. Do not tile on the x axis - sorry couldn't resist.

Thanks Guys, I will be watching the video. All of the suggestions make perfect sense to me. Hopefully I will get it without a problem. Any Bit suggestions for cutting plywood without it splintering?
Thanks again.

Kathy,

I did quite a bit of cutouts on plywood and I used a compression bit available from most suppliers.
