Default Vortex dovetail insert bit

I purchased a Vortex square/round dovetail bit. Seeing if anyone is running one and if you have any tips when it comes to programming and or running.
Thanks!

What software are you running it thru. Our Mozaik has a settings tab under the dovetail drawer setup where all the parameters are set.
Vortex also has a setup guide the publish. It should have been included with your bit. It it was not, I would be happy to send you a copy.

For now I am going to be using vectric to use it but I did notice in mozaik had something. How well does it work in mozaik? Right now, my mozaik is set up but still have yet to run a test piece through it (had it for 8months and havenít had a chance to check it out!). They did send some info over and was going through it and it doesnít seem too bad but just checking with someone who might have actually used it.

It works great. it is VERY sensitive to the material thickness.
A little word to the wise, in Mozaik, the material settings seem to override any settings in the optimizer. I was running designing the cabinets and then checking the thickness of the material and setting it on the Optimizer tab. It does not accept those value changes there and it cuts to the master material thickness. Hard to diagnose issues when you are cutting the wrong thickness of material.

What do you make cnc dovetail drawers out of? It's plywood right?

I always think solid wood when I make dovetails. One of the few things I use the incra router setup for.

Doug s, thatís what I was looking for when it came to tips! I know there is a lot to learn with mozaik but I feel trial by fire is a sure way to do it haha. I am used to tolerances with metals not wood yet so I am very eager to get into something new. Thanks!

I love my Incra setup for making dovetails. Hard to beat in my humble opinion.
Although I have to admit I have downloaded a trial copy of Jointcam and have been thinking about building a jig to cut dovetails on the Stinger.
