Default panther spoil board question

I received my new panther a couple of days ago and was wondering about the spoil board. Do you have to surface the factory grid and then both sides of spoil board. Or just both sides of mdf? Thanks

Rory...
There are a number of ways to do this, but if it were me, I would use a heavy oilbase paint (like the RustOleum the factory uses) and seal the grooves in the plenum and when dry, surface the MDF plenum.

Removing the variations in the table will save material when surfacing both sides of the MDF bleeder board.

Did the factory plenum not come painted?

Other than that, like Gary said. Surface the plenum skim one side of your new sheet of MDF and glue the skimmed side down.

Turn on the vacuum and let it run 20 min or so. Then surface the top of your new spoilboard and paint the sides.

It took me a little while to put a dot of glue on each little square........

My factory plenum actually took more than a few passes to get it flat. One corner was high.

My plenum took five passes at .010 to get it flat.
