Default First V carve

I've had VCP for months, but just actually used the v-carve function. Making some plaques for a foundation. One masked one bare, came out pretty good

Ran 6 of the actual plaques and they all came out great. I wish I had a thickness sander as I had to go back over a couple word to get the depths to look even. Double sided tape help up well.

I'm kicking around buying a thickness sander also.

Same thing happened to me today. As luck would have it I saw it before removing it from the table. I installed my 1 1/4" surfacing bit and ran a pocket tool path removing .020" then re-ran my tool paths. Came out perfect.

It only happened to a couple corners. The boards, even a small as they are, had a little warp.

I try to not surface the finished face because it will leave tool marks that take a lot of sanding to remove.

When I'm worried, I'll run an indicator over the board before I cut, but in this case they all seemed nice and flat. .008" added depth fixed in on the two words.

One thing I learned:

setting the v-carve depth deeper did nothing. If the vbit is wider than the letters, it won't do anything. I had to move my z zero down and rerun that segment of program.

V carve letters were great.

On the dudes, the quality was good but there were some minor issues that I wasn't too crazy about. I can't program in the flat width at the tip of the v-bit and it would do a bunch of extra moves to clean up tiny areas where nothing was left. I suppose I'll figure out workarounds as I get more experience.

I bit the bullet a few months back and got a drum sander, great investment !

Only thing negative that jumps out at me here is it looks like Gallant & Few needs a space between them, or more of one.

yeah, I'll probably need to get one eventually.

The spacing was to match how he had them made previously... so I think that's how he wanted them..
